A MAN-licensed manufacturer
PBS Turbo s.r.o. manufactures the NR series (/SJ, /SR, /SX and /SRX variants) and the TCR series in Velká Bíteš (Czech Republic) under licence from MAN. For the operator this means two things: proven designs backed by MAN engineering, and a real supply and retrofit alternative on engines currently fitted with another brand.

The PDH, PTR and PTD series are the veteran Czech-built range — widespread in central and eastern European plants and vessels — and account for most of our PBS stock. We equally service the manufacturer's current range (TCR, TCA, TCT, TCF, TCP and the ECOCHARGE two-stage system).

Our most travelled retrofit route
Since 2019 we have installed more than 15 PBS retrofit units on Jenbacher, Deutz and MWM gas engines originally fitted with ABB turbochargers, each with its adaptation kit and commissioning report.

Frequently asked questions
Is a PBS turbocharger compatible with a MAN installation?
PBS manufactures under MAN licence, which is what makes it our most travelled retrofit route: the engineering is close enough for the matching to work out on many installations. Compatibility is never assumed, though — it is verified against the engine's operating point before we quote.
What happens with spares after a PBS retrofit?
They stay with us. PBS is part of our regular range, with spare parts and overhauls in our own workshops — the point of a retrofit is precisely to leave the engine with support, not to move the supply problem somewhere else.
