Heat exchangers
Known as intercoolers, charge air coolers or air charge coolers: a fouled heat exchanger steals power and drives up fuel consumption. We bring them back to factory performance.
Heat exchanger overhauls
Complete overhaul of your engine's intercooler (Jenbacher, MWM, MAN, Caterpillar and more), with a documented leak test before delivery.
- Chemical, mechanical and ultrasonic cleaning of tube bundle and fins
- Hydraulic and leak testing
- Header, plate and tube repair
- Bundle replacement and gasket fabrication
- Final painting and preservation of the charge air cooler
- In workshop, or scheduled around your engine outage
When your charge air cooler is due
- Charge air temperature above its usual value
- Higher fuel consumption at the same load
- Growing pressure drop across the cooler
- Water or oil on the air side: the sign of an internal leak
- Higher exhaust temperatures and engine derating
Fouling is gradual: the engine "gets used to it" until performance visibly drops. Servicing the cooler with every engine overhaul (or when these signs appear) recovers power, fuel consumption and temperature margins.
We service coolers from power-generation, marine and industrial engines, plate or tube-bundle type, with a documented leak test on every delivery.

Plate heat exchanger spare parts
Besides overhauls, we supply spare parts for plate heat exchangers from the main international brands, with the same identification and traceability as our turbocharger parts: send us the brand and model from the nameplate and we confirm the exact reference.
Frequently asked questions
Do you repair or replace the tube bundle?
Both. If cleaning and selective tube plugging restore performance with margin, we repair; if the bundle is at the end of its life, we replace it and fabricate the necessary gaskets.
How do I know the cooler is fouled?
Three readings give it away: the cooler's pressure drop rises, charge air temperature rises and exhaust temperature follows. It is among the cheapest things to watch in the log — and among the most telling.
How does it fit my engine outage?
The cooler overhaul is scheduled around your engine outage or overhaul so it adds no downtime. Collection, workshop, leak test and delivery, with a report.
What does a fouled cooler do to the turbocharger?
It raises exhaust temperature, lowers charge air pressure and pushes the compressor towards surge. Many “turbocharger faults” actually start at the cooler.
